The South Dakota Industrial Hemp Association is looking for more producers to grow industrial hemp in the state.  The group is holding an Industrial Hemp Growers meeting on Monday, November 21st, at Nicky’s in Madison, for people to learn more about growing the crop.

Ken Meyer of A.H. Meyer & Sons, Incorporated of Winfred currently serves as president of the South Dakota Industrial Hemp Association.  He said that what is most popular right now is dual cropping the hemp, allowing two revenue streams off the same crop.

Meyer said that A.H. Meyer & Sons is building a hemp fiber processing facility in Winfred.  He said that through this growers meeting on the 21st, they want area producers to learn more about the benefits of growing industrial hemp.

Meyer said that the two-hour growers meeting on the 21st will include some special speakers.

Also speaking will be Derrick Dohmann of Horizon Hemp Seeds, who sells certified hemp seeds to people in this region.

The Industrial Hemp Growers informational meeting in Madison is scheduled for November 21st from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Nicky’s Restaurant.  Other upcoming meetings will also be held in Tea, Yankton, Brookings, and Mitchell.
