The state Department of Health reported one additional COVID-19 death on Monday, putting the state’s overall total number of deaths at 1981 since the start of the pandemic.  The state reported 77 new positive coronavirus cases, with active cases decreasing to just more than 12-hundred.  The number of people hospitalized because of the virus increased from 77 Friday to 81 on Monday.    

There was no change in the number of active COVID-19 cases in Lake County Monday, which is now 11.  The state reported that Lake County has moved into the minimal community spread category, along with McCook and Miner counties.  The other area counties of Moody, Kingsbury, and Brookings all are in the moderate community spread category.  Moody County had 11 active COVID-19 cases, Kingsbury County had ten and Brookings County reported 55 active cases as of Monday.
