Noem proposes salary raises, over $1B in projects in budget address

Governor Kristi Noem laid out an ambitious spending plan for state legislators in her budget address this week.

Noem said the state’s sales tax revenues have been trending at an historic rate.

Noem said a big chunk of expected federal funding should go to housing programs.  She said she will also ask legislators for unprecedented ongoing raises.

Noem said another big investment should be made in water projects.

The Governor also will ask for money for childcare providers, cyber security, and tourism. The 2022 session of the legislature begins on January eleventh.
