Madison woman sentenced on drug charge

A 47-year-old woman was sentenced on drug charges this week in Lake County Circuit Court.  Heather Schwartz of Madison had earlier pleaded guilty to a felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance and a misdemeanor charge of Contributing to the Abuse, Neglect or Delinquency of a minor.

Circuit Judge Pat Pardy sentenced Schwartz to serve 90 days in the county jail on the contributing charge, suspending 30 days and ordering her to serve 60 days on house arrest.  Schwartz was also ordered to pay costs and re-pay her court-appointed attorney’s fees.

On the possession charge, the judge sentenced Schwartz to serve four years in the state penitentiary, but suspended the time based on several conditions.  Some of the conditions include that she be on supervised probation for four years, and pay a fine, court costs, and restitution, as well as re-pay her court-appointed attorney’s fees.  Judge Pardy said that Schwartz’s sentence on the Possession charge would run consecutive to the Contributing charge.
