Lake County Commission Approves Personnel and Other Agenda Items at Their Meeting Tuesday

The Lake County Commission took a number of personnel actions at their meeting on Tuesday morning. The commission approved the termination of Jacob Seppala as a Correctional Officer, effective March 22nd. They also approved the hiring of Faith Hale as a part-time correctional officer, at a rate of $19.35 an hour, and the hiring of Adam Tyburec as a full-time correctional officer, at a rate of $21 an hour. Commissions also approved the hiring of Jenessa Schiernbeck as a full-time Field Appraiser for the Equalization office, at a rate of 18.60 an hour, and Jill Dold as a full-time Extension Office Manager, at a rate of $18.50 an hour. 

Lake County Sheriff Sarina Talich met with commissions to give an update on a new dash camera system for the Sheriff’s Department. The Axon Fleet 3 Camera System is an upgrade from the Fleet 2 system the department uses now. Commissioners approved the purchase of the camera system, as well as a new contract with Central Square Services for record management. 

Other items taken up on Tuesday included the approval of several tax abatements, including 5 properties that were destroyed by the May 2022 derecho, and two trailer homes that had been sold as part of a Sheriff’s sale and then destroyed in July of 2021.

Also approved at the meeting were a number of Seasonal Bids for the 2023 construction season, as well as a bid from Bowes Construction of Brookings for mill and overlay work on 233rd street, or County Road 36. That project will span three miles, starting at the intersection with 460th avenue, going east to 463rd avenue. The bid for the project was accepted at $547,872. 

Finally, the Commission also presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Commission Administrative Officer Shelly Gust, for her 15 years of service to Lake County.Â
