Lake County Accident

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident at the intersection of SD Highway 19 and 237th Street. for a report of a two vehicle injury crash last Saturday at approximately 1:54 PM 

A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado K1500, driven by Garrett L Kooiker, 27 of Madison, was traveling northbound on SD Hwy 19 and attempting to turn westbound onto 237th Street. A 2005 Ford Ranger, driven by Jon T Micheal, 27 of Madison, was traveling Southbound on SD Hwy 19.  There was a white Ford F-150 that was directly in front of the Ford Ranger in the turning lane to turn eastbound onto 237th Street.  Because of the F150, Kooiker did not see any vehicles coming south. Kooiker then began his turn and was struck by the Ford Ranger. 

Both men were treated by EMS and transported to Madison Regional Health. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
