Emergency officials warn of open water on Lake Madison

Local emergency officials are warning people of open water on Lake Madison near Johnson’s Point.  Officials responded Wednesday night to a report of three ice fishermen who had fallen into open water on Lake Madison, near Johnson’s Point.  Lake County Emergency Management reported on its Facebook page that the incident happened around 8:00 Wednesday night.  The men who were fishing reportedly got out of the water under their own power, but their UTV and other fishing gear were still in the water.

Members of the Lake County Dive Team were called to assist STS Towing of Chester in recovering the UTV, since it was protruding from the open water.

Agencies involved in responding to Wednesday night’s incident on Lake Madison were the state Game, Fish and Parks, Lake County 9-1-1, Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management, and Dive Team, along with Madison Regional Health’s Ambulance and STS Towing.
