East River Federal Credit Union receives national award for community service

A local credit union has been recognized with a national award.

The Credit Union National Association has named East River Federal Credit Union of Madison one of the recipients of its Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service award.

East River Federal Credit Union is one of five nationally recognized credit unions for its outstanding social responsibility project.

The awards, which are given in several credit union asset size categories, were selected among the winning entries at a league or association level. East River Federal Credit Union is part of the Dakota Credit Union Association which serves 71 credit unions in North and South Dakota.

Erica Clements, Marketing Specialist for East River Federal Credit Union, said that being recognized for their community involvement on a national level is a testament to their team of staff, volunteers and members. She said that they need all of these groups to support their community, along with many of the other non-for-profit organizations that they partner with.

East River Federal Credit Union also received honorable mention in the national Desjardins Award for financial literacy.
