DSU Virtual Teach Camp Returns May 30th

Dakota State University’s virtual Teach Camp returns on Tuesday, May 30. DSU Teach Camp is a one-day virtual conference with all sessions held via Zoom. It is open to all PK-12 teachers. The event is free, or $40, for participants who would like to receive one graduate credit.

Dr David De Jong, Dean of the College of Education is looking forward to learning from the dynamic speakers. Some speakers will be DSU faculty members, while others include regional elementary, middle, and high school educators. Participants can choose from various sessions such as math tools, mental health, social skills, improving student engagement, and more. This is the eighth year DSU will be offering the camp. In 2016, through an Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) grant, the College of Education offered DSU STEAM Camp. This one-day workshop focused on topics of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). After the grant ended in 2019, DSU reworked the event into Teach Camp, available online to increase the number of attendees and provide sessions addressing all teaching areas instead of just STEAM.

DeJong says, It’s the only professional learning of its kind in the state and the DSU Teach Camp is top notch. Over 225 teachers are registered for the May 30th camp.
