Dr. Heilman retiring from MRHS

A Madison doctor is retiring at the end of the year.  

Madison Regional Health System announced that Dr. Bernard Heilman, Family Medicine Physician, will retire on December 31st after 37 years of practicing medicine.  

Dr. Heilman has served the Madison area since July of 1986, totaling 34 years. He started his private practice in Pierre in 1983, then moved to Madison and began at Madison Medical Clinic in 1986.  He opened the Northland Family Practice Clinic LTD in 1986 and merged his practice with Madison Regional Health System in 2014. Dr. Heilman has served as Chief of Staff multiple times and has been Chair (physician leader) of the Madison Regional Health Trauma Department for numerous years. 

Tammy Miller, CEO of Madison Regional Health, said that Dr. Heilman has provided passionate care to the community that will have a lasting impact.  She said that Madison Regional Health System thanks Dr. Heilman for his dedication and leadership expertise throughout the years and said he will truly be missed.
