County approves LMDA to add life jackets and toys to public beach area on Lake Madison

Those visiting Lake County’s public access area and beach on Lake Madison this summer will see some new amenities.  County Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Dave Hare talked with Lake County Commissioners Tuesday about the Lake Madison Development Association installing a kiosk with life jackets for kids to use.  Hare said that they have similar kiosks located at Johnson’s Point and Walker’s Point on Lake Madison as well.

Hare said that the area, called the Scott Pedersen Memorial Park, is used a lot by people during the summer.  He said that the Development Association is also interested in having some toys available for the beach.

Hare said his only concern with adding the toys is that they are cleaned up regularly.  He said that he doesn’t have the staff to be able to be out cleaning the beach area on a daily basis.  Commissioners agreed to allow the Lake Madison Development Association to add the life jacket kiosk and the container for toys to the public access beach.  The toys are approved for the 2022 summer season only on a trial basis.
