Arrest made in Lake County burglary

A 26-year-old transient was arrested Thursday morning in a Lake County burglary.  Lake County Sheriff Tim Walburg said that just before 10:00 Thursday morning, Lake County 911 got a call of a burglary in progress at a residence in the area of 228th Street and 464th Avenue.  He said that as law enforcement headed to the scene, the reporting party said he was watching a female trying to break into his house on his video camera, while another vehicle was slowly driving by.  Walburg said that when the Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene, evidence indicated a burglary had occurred with somebody going into a kitchen window of the house.  Law enforcement then found somebody hiding in the trees just to the north of the residence.  Walburg said that the Sheriff’s Office took 26-year-old Harley Omega Matthews into custody.  Matthews is being held in the Lake County Detention Center on charges of 2nd Degree Burglary and Unlawful Occupancy.  She is also being held on a probation detainer from Codington County.  Walburg said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.  Moody County Sheriff Troy Wellman assisted Lake County in the incident.  Walburg said this is an isolated incident and no other property was believed to be involved.
