Winter storm impacting area through Saturday

Snow and winds will combine for a major winter storm in our area through the next couple of days.  We are currently under a Winter Storm Warning until midnight tonight, with a total snow accumulation of 4-to-6-inches and wind gusts to 45-miles-an-hour.  A blizzard warning then goes into effect at midnight tonight until 6:00 Saturday night.  

Because of the impending weather situation, many area schools have cancelled classes for today – including Madison Central, Madison Christian & St. Thomas Schools, Arlington, Chester, Flandreau, Howard, Lake Preston, and Montrose.  Dakota State University in Madison is cancelling classes starting at noon today.
