Heavy early voting could create some backups on election day that may spill over into the counting process.

Secretary of State Steve Barnett says county auditors have to wait to process the early ballots.

More than thirty-percent of registered voters have already cast ballots for next month’s election.

Barnett is confident that most results will be totaled up on election night.

Primary election results from Minnehaha County weren’t finished until the next afternoon. Barnett says changes have been made to avoid that.

In-person voting for the general election takes place on November 3rd.  More information on local races and candidates included on this year’s ballot can be found on the November 2020 Election page.
