Madison Central School Board approves make-up days for students

The Madison Central School Board has approved some changes to the school district’s calendar for this year in order to make-up some of the school days missed because of the weather.  Madison Central students have missed five days of school so far due to weather, and made up a day-and-a-half last month.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson told board members Monday that he would like them to add Monday, April 10th (Easter Monday) back as a student contact day.  He told board members that the district’s staff supported this change.

Jorgenson also proposed adding Monday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 23rd to the end of the school year.  He said that the last day of school for this year would be an early release day for students.

Also during their meeting Monday, Madison Central School Board members approved the district’s school calendar for the 2023-24 school year.  Jorgenson said that many areas of the calendar will be similar to the current year’s calendar.  He said that the first day of school for the next school year would be August 22nd for students, with the last day set for May 17th of 2024.
