Lake County Commission to consider lowering speed limit on county road

The Lake County Commission is considering lowering the speed limit on a portion of the highway south of the Madison Country Club area.  Sheriff Tim Walburg told county commissioners Tuesday that he has received complaints over the years regarding speeding on 451st Avenue from the Highway 34 intersection south to the Camp Lakodia turnoff.  He said that he sent around fifty letters to residents who live along that area and received about twenty responses back, several in favor of reducing the speed limit.  Walburg encouraged commissioners to consider the change.

Walburg suggested lowering the speed limit for that mile or so to 45-miles-per-hour.

Commissioners voted to direct the State’s Attorney’s Office to draft a speed zone ordinance for the area on 451st Avenue and set it for first reading during the commission’s next meeting on July 19th.
