County approves storm damage repairs to be done on highway shop

Lake County officials are working on repairs that need to be made after the May 12th derecho.  County Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Dave Hare presented information to Lake County Commissioners this week on what needs to be done and what the county’s insurance will cover.  He said while there are a number of repairs that need to be done, the most timely one involves the county’s Highway Department shop.

Hare told county commissioners that he received three quotes to replace four overhead doors, but a couple of them anticipated it would be three-to-four months before they could do the work.  He said that the other was a business from Aberdeen that Amert Construction of Madison uses, and they estimated around two-to-four weeks.  Hare said that Amert Construction can do the other work that is needed on the Highway Shop buildings to prepare for the doors, for a total of just more than 67-thousand dollars.  This total included the cost of the overhead doors, which are around 19-thousand dollars for each building.

County commissioners approved a motion to move forward with the bid from Amert Construction to do the repairs and work needed to install new overhead doors at the county’s Highway Shop.
