City commission discusses rec trail and committee

The Madison City Commission discussed a couple of items regarding the city’s recreation trail during its meeting Monday.  

Mayor Marshall Dennert told commissioners that a portion of the trail near the Lakeview Industrial Park is closed currently because there is a pipe across it.  Dennert said that there needs to be a culvert put in to release some of the water in a retention pond near the new Running’s building.  He said that right now there is a pipe across the trail and they are working on it, but are waiting until it dries up more.  Dennert said the section will be open again once that work is completed. 

Also on Monday, commissioners approved a recommendation from the city’s Park Board to eliminate the city’s Rec Trail committee and put its duties under the Park Board’s duties.
