City approves Madison Police Department grant application

The Madison City Commission has approved an application for a grant for the Madison Police Department.  Police Chief Justin Meyer told commissioners during their meeting Monday that they have received this grant from the federal government for nearly thirteen years. He said it’s an 80-20 matching grant that can be used in a couple of different areas for the department.

Meyer said that the department is requesting just more than seven-thousand dollars in federal funding, which would be matched by more than 17-hundred dollars in local matching funds. He explained to commissioners how the federal grant money would be split.

Commissioners unanimously approved the police department to move forward with the law enforcement grant application.
