The Madison City Commission has approved a budget request for 2021 for the Smith-Zimmermann Museum.  Jeff Heinemeyer, the city’s Interim Finance Advisor, told commissioners during their meeting Monday that the current Director for the Museum asked to submit the request, which was not done before the commission’s 2021 budget discussions.  Julie Breu said in an e-mail to the city that there was a change in directors of the museum and it was closed for a short time because of a lack of staff and COVID-19. She said that is why their budget request was not submitted.

Heinemeyer said that the Museum is asking for $6500, which is the same amount the city has given them for several years. Commissioners approved the request, with the money to come out of the city’s general fund contingency budget.
