Update from Lake Co. Sheriff’s Office on flooded roads

From the Lake County Sheriff’s Office:

Several roads in our area have water running over them.  The State DOT and County Highway Departments are doing the best they can to mark the roads.  Now the rain is coming to an end and snow with strong winds is setting in, let’s hope this will slow the flood water down. The following is a list of roads that is known with water going over them…

SD Highway 19 near Colton Corner
SD Highway 34 near Colman
241st Street East of SD Highway 19
237th Street East of SD Highway 19
233rd Street (Old 34) East of 459th Ave
462nd Ave North of 240th Street
Reported 230th Street near 460th Ave

450th and 449th Ave north of SD 34 have water over the gravel as well.

I am sure there are more township roads that have water going over them or are close.  With the heavy rains we have had the gravel roads are very soft and could cause your vehicle to go into the ditch if your not paying attention.  If your find roads with water over them please call our dispatch office (256-7620) so they are aware in case of an emergency in that area.
