The Madison Central School District held their monthly meeting on Monday night. Board members heard a presentation from the “Best Buddies” program. Best Buddies is an organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This year, members of Best Buddies have made door decorations for the Bethel Nursing Home, and marched in the DSU Parade. They also held a pumpkin painting in October, and put on a Thanksgiving meal in November, among other activities.
Also at the meeting, Superintendent Joel Jorgenson informed the board that the Middle School roof project had been completed. Jorgenson also said he was pleased with the Governor’s proposed 4% increase in school funding.
December 20th will be the final day of classes for Madison Central before the Christmas break. The 20th will also be an early release day. Classes for students will resume on January 3rd of 2024.
