Late comebacks were the highlights on Day #2 of an NSAA Baseball doubleheader with Dakota State University falling to Presentation College in Ralston, Nebraska. The Trojans fell short in a 11-7 loss in the opener before being slighted 6-1 in Game #2 on Monday.
Presentation boasted a 10-1 lead through five innings off a pair of 4-run innings in Game #1. Dakota State chipped away at the lead with 5 runs in the 7th and 1 run in the 8th. The Saints were able to hold on for the win even with 3 errors on defense. Keaton Hoeke hit a solo home run and Marcos Alvarez had 2 RBIs for the Trojans.
Dakota State struck first with an RBI single from Alvarez for a 1-0 lead in the Top of the 1st. Presentation was able to break through in the 4th with 2 runs and added 4 runs in the 5th to take the final lead at 6-1. Alvarez was 2-for-3 and Jalen Boyd had a run scored. Trey Randel took the loss off 4 ⅓ innings pitched and allowed 3 earned runs with 5 strikeouts.
Dakota State has now dropped 15 straight games to stand at 3-27 overall and 1-17 in the NSAA. The Trojans scheduled game versus Mount Marty College has been postponed to a later date. DSU hits the road to face Morningside College on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader in Sioux City.
