“Joker: Folie A’ Deux” Falls Short Of Expectations With $40 Million Opening
Joker: Folie à Deux didn’t perform as expected with a domestic opening of $40 million, and to sting even more, it earned the first D CinemaScore for a Hollywood comic book movie. Ouch. Those high expectations were based on the first Joker with Joaquin Phoenix pulling in $743 million worldwide to become the highest-grossing R-rated film at the time. Reviews haven’t been great…many not loving the musical aspect.
The Wild Robot made another $18.7 million domestically in its second weekend, surpassing $100 million globally. In its fifth weekend, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice exceeded $400 million in earnings, while Transformers One earned $5.4 million domestically in its third weekend.
