State DOT holding public meeting on Washington Avenue project

The state Department of Transportation, along with the city of Madison and D & G Concrete Construction, will hold an open house style public meeting for the Highway 34 (or Washington Avenue) project in Madison on Monday, March 18th.

The seven-point-nine-million dollar project will reconstruct just more than a mile of Highway 34 from the intersection of Washington Avenue and 2nd Street Northeast south to the start of the divided highway on 10th Street Southeast.

Work is tentatively scheduled to begin March 25th and includes grading, storm sewer, water main, sanitary sewer, curb & gutter, sidewalk, roadway lighting and concrete surfacing.

The open house public meeting will be held at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

The open house will be informal with a short presentation at 6:00 p.m. and staff available to discuss issues and answer people’s questions regarding the reconstruction project. During this time, residents will also have the opportunity to present written comments.
