Wood Ducks look to continue Cinderella run tonight in Mitchell

The Winner/Colome Pheasants and the Garretson Blue Jays were both winners on Wednesday, in the 2nd round of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament. Winner/Colome defeated Mt. Vernon 5-2, while Garretson topped Four Corners 12-4.

Play resumes in Mitchell today with the first quarterfinal games. Larchwood will take on Dimock-Emery at 5:30 today, followed by the Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks vs. Platte. The Wood Ducks have won four post season games in a row, after winning only twice during the regular season. They face a tough foe tonight in Platte, who has already defeated perennial contenders Alexandria and the Dell Rapids Mudcats.

Wood Ducks starter Logan Larson should be well rested and on the mound tonight, after throwing 9 inning gems to pick up wins in each of his last two starts.

The Harford-Humboldt and Platte game is scheduled to start at 7:30 tonight, on Jammin’ Country 103.1 FM.
