Win over Parkston sends Madison back to the SoDak 16

The Madison Bulldog boys basketball team overcame a sluggish start to take down the Parkston Trojans 64-37 on Friday night.

Parkston opened the game in a nine nothing run less than two minutes into the first quarter, forcing Madison head coach Jeff Larsen to burn an early time out. The Bulldogs came out of that time out showing full-court pressure defense, forcing several turnovers and quickly re-taking the lead on their way to a 22 point first quarter.

The Bulldogs bench proved to be the difference in the game. Nate Ricke scored a team high 22 points off the bench, while Aiden Jensen added 12 of his own.  Carter Bergheim added 10 points, and Aspen Dahl 13 rebounds for Madison in victory. Parkston Junior Max Scott had 24 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
The win sends Madison back to the SoDak 16, where they’ll match up with St. Thomas More. The Cavaliers won their region semifinal game 70-48 over Hill City.
