Wagner rallies for late win over Canova 16U

The Canova 16 and 14U baseball teams both fell to Wagner on Monday. Nolan Mentele struck out 13 batters, but the Canova 16U squad lost to Wagner 6-1. Mentele allowed just one hit and one run over six and one-third innings while walking two. 

Canova led 1-0 until the top of the seventh when Wagner scored a run on a walk to tie the game and force extra innings. Wagner then scored 5 runs in the 8th to win it. 

Kingston Feldhaus was 2-4 with two stolen bases for Canova. 

The Canova 14U team could muster only 3 hits in a 3-0 loss to Wagner. Four Canova pitchers combined to allow just 7 hits while striking out 8. Cooper Koepsell had two of the three hits for Canova in the loss. 

The Gang’s 16U team is now 1-5 this season, while the 14U is 2-4. Both teams will travel to Platte on Wednesday.
