VFW Board Reverses Decision, Will Host State Tournaments

The South Dakota VFW baseball executive committee officially announced on Monday that it will hold the 2020 SD VFW state baseball tournaments. The committee had originally ruled they would not host state tournaments for VFW, but reversed their decision.

The state tournaments take place in mid-July through early August. Salem is set to host the 10-and-under division on July 10th through the 12th. Canova will host the Class B 16-and-under division on July 31st through August 2nd. The SD VFW is asking for teams to abide by local state and national COVID-19 policies and have insurance and permission from city or school officials to play.

The SD VFW also stepped in to host a state tournament for the Class B Legion baseball teams this summer after the state legion rid itself of administration duties, despite it sanctioning a season. It will complete region play by July 31, with the state tournament to follow for Class B Legion.
