Veenhof leads the Bulldogs, Chester girls finish 3rd, as State Track & Field Meet wraps up
Madison junior Shane Veenhof picked up a of Top 3 finishes during Saturday’s final day of the SDHSAA State Track & Field Meet in Sioux Falls. Veenhof took 3rd in the 300 Meter Hurdle finals, with a time of 40.68, and 2nd in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a personal best time of 14.73.
The Sioux Falls Christian Boys won the Class A team title by 2 points over Custer. West Central finished 3rd, followed by Hot Springs and Milbank.
The Charger Girls dominated the team standings, winning with 130.5 points. The Lennox girls were 2nd with 55.5, followed by Custer, Bennet County, and Mt. Vernon/Plankinton.
Also Saturday, Chester Area freshman Jacy Wolf placed 5th in the Class B Girls 100 Meter Hurdles, and 8th in the 3oo Hurdles. Zachery Moyer added a 2nd place finish in the 110 Hurdles for the Flyer boys. Jovi Wolf added to his stellar weekend with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Meter dash.
Emery Larson capped her record setting meet, by finishing 2nd in the 1,600 Meter run.
The Chester Area girls finished in 3rd place in the team standings, 9 points behind 1st place Burke and just 2 points behind 2nd place Arlington. It was Burke’s first team win since finishing in a tie for 1st in 1976.
The Flyer boys Gregory won the Class B boys title, followed by Freeman Academy/Marion and Deubrook Area. The Sioux Falls Lincoln boys took the AA Championship, and Brandon Valley the girls title.
