Trojans force four turnovers to win final home game of the year

Dakota State had only 189 yards of offense Saturday, but forced four turnovers in a 13-6 win over Valley City State. The Trojans also earned their first-ever season series sweep of the Vikings. It was the Trojans first home victory over Valley City State since Sept. 5, 1998. 

 

Quarterback A.J. Donovan was 10-for-19 with 83 yards passing for Dakota State. Preston Iverson rushed 15 times for 68 yards.  Ty Ortman added 13 rushes for 40 yards and a touchdown.

 

Jay Skogerboe, Trey Ortman, and Kacey Cauley each had interceptions for DSU. Caleb Dwyer had 8 tackles and a sack, and Cole Paulson added 8 tackles and a fumble recovery. 

 

The Trojans snapped their three-game losing skid, improving to 5-3 overall record and 3-3 league record.  Dakota State closed their 2024 home schedule with a winning 3-2 record.

 

DSU is off this Saturday. They will travel to Mayville State on November 9th.
