Trojan Women go 1-1 at Cattle Classic
The Dakota State Women’s Basketball team went 1-1 during the two-day Cattle Classic this weekend, hosted by Concordia. The Trojans roared back from a five-point deficit with 25 seconds left against Oklahoma City, and Cierra Watkins hit a pair of free-throws with :00.1 second left, lifting to a 56-54 win Saturday.
Dakota State outscored Oklahoma City 22-15 in the final quarter. Tabor Teel led the Trojans with 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Angela Slattery and Lilli Mackley each added 11 points.
DSU lost their first game of the tournament to #10 Southern Oregon, as the Red Raiders edged DSU 70-68.Â
The Trojans travel to the Corn Palace in Mitchell on Wednesday for the annual Battle of the Blues with rival No. 9 ranked Dakota Wesleyan. The women’s game of the double-header is set for 6 p.m.
