Thursday Night Cornbelt Recap

Dell Rapids PBR used a three-run first inning to topple the Colman A’s last night in a pitcher’s duel in Cornbelt League baseball. The two starting pitchers went the distance for their respective teams, as PBR won 3-0. Dell Rapid’s Brett Mogen twirled a gem, getting the shutout while allowing just four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out 17. Colman’s Ian Barker scattered 10 hits throughout eight innings of work and settled down after the first inning. The lone runs of the game came on the first three batters reaching in the bottom of the first, including an RBI triple followed by a two-run home run from Matt Gillogly.

Other Cornbelt action from last night, Madison defeated Flandreau, 9-3, behind six and a third strong innings from Marcus Vandenbosch on the mound. Lennox had another strong offensive performance, taking down the Gamecocks of Hartford-Humboldt 12-0.

Canova Gang defeated Dell Rapids Mudcats, 2-0, getting seven scoreless innings from Trey Krier. Rounding out the evening, Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks picked up an 8-4 win over Salem.
