A dominant defensive effort powered the Madison Bulldogs to their 3rd win of the season, a 26-7 victory over Milbank on Friday night. Madison took their opening drive into the endzone, capping off a 10 play, 62 yard drive with a three yard TD run from Trey Smith for a 6-0 lead. Madison would drive into Milbank territory four more times in the 1st half, but turned the ball over on downs three times. Only on the final drive of the half did Smith punch in a score from 1 yard out for a 13-0 halftime lead.

The Madison defense intercepted Milbank quarterback Kaden Krause three times in the game, including twice in the 2nd half, helping to set up a pair of touchdown passes from Tyler Tappe. The first to Mickale Dohrer, and the 2nd to Carson Hunsley. Milbank’s only score came on a 5 yard TD run from Dillion Schneck at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Madison held Milbank to just 215 yards, and allowed just 3 completions on 22 pass attempts. Daniel Swenson finished with 9 tackles, Gavin Ronk added 5 tackles and a sack. Tappe completed 24 of 30 passes for 233 yards, Smith ran 33 times for 133 yards.

The win snapped a three game losing streak for Madison, as their record improved to 3-3. The Bulldogs return home next week to host the West Central Trojans.
