State Wrestling Meet Results

The three day long South Dakota State Wrestling Meet wrapped up on Saturday in Rapid City. The Madison Bulldogs sent three wrestlers to the Class A tournament. 

Sophomore Carson Wolf and freshman Wyatt Pickard both competed for the Bulldogs, and were eliminated onThursday. Freshman Caleb Hodges also wrestled and placed 3rd at 132 pounds. Hodges lost his quarterfinals match to Braden Lee of Brandon Valley, and then won his next three to move into the 3rd place match. Hodges won a 3-2 decision over Holden Hawkins of Sisseton to claim 3rd place. 

Elsewhere at the State Tournament, Howard’s Conner Giedd took 5th place at 120 pounds, and Griffin Clubb placed 3rd at 220 pounds. 

Jackson Remmers of McCook Central/Montrose won 1st place at 152 pounds, while his teammate Kade Grocott took 1st at 220 pounds. The Tri-Valley Mustangs also had a champion, with Cole Hendrixson taking 1st place at 113 pounds. 

Brandon Valley won the Class A Team title, while the Canton C-Hawks took first in Class B. On Saturday, eight teams in each class took part in the Team Duel Tournament. Pierre defeated Brandon Valley 34-33 for the Class A title. Canton took 1st in the Class B team duel, defeating Bon Homme/Avon for the championship.
