The McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars used their size advantage over Groton to take down the Tigers 3-1, in the opening round of the Class A tournament on Thursday. MCM won the match by scores of 25-17, 19-25, 25-16, and 25-21. 

The Fighting Cougars never trailed in the first set, and after losing set two, held the lead for most of the next two sets as well. Aleah Ries led the Fighting Cougars with 16 kills. Jacy Pulse and Abi Van Ruler were also in double figures with 13. Emily Bies had a match high 40 assists. 

MCM will take on Dakota Valley in Friday’s semi-finals, at 7:15 central time. That match can be heard on Jammin’ Country FM103
