Madison Softball opens with Tri-Valley this afternoon

The State High School Softball Tournaments for all three classes begin today, at The Players Softball Complex in Aberdeen. In Class A, the Madison Bulldogs come into the tournament as the #4 seed, and will take on #5 Tri-Valley at 12:30 today. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 15-4 record, and defeated Parkston 15-0 in the SoDak 16 to advance to State. 

The Madison offense is led by senior Amand Vacanti, who had a .714 batting average this season that included 12 doubles and 14 home runs. Karley Lurz, Aubri Tobkin, Evie Lurz, Mara Klingbile and Paislee Cooney also had averages over 400. 

Vacanti handled most of the pitching for the Bulldogs, throwing 81 of the teams 91 innings, and striking out 185 batters. 

Madison played the Mustangs just once this year, beating Tri-Valley 13-0 back on May 16th. 

The other 1st Round games today included #1 seed and undefeated West Central taking on Elk-Point Jefferson at 10am. #2 Dell Rapids plays Dakota Valley at 3pm, followed by Tea Area vs. Beresford.
