Madison scores two defensive TD’s in 34-6 win over Milbank

Madison’s defense forced 5 turnovers, and scored 2 touchdowns Thursday night, in a 34-6 win over Milbank. Madison scored first when their defense forced Milbank to punt out of their own endzone near the end of the 1st quarter. The punt sailed out of bounds at the Milbank 6 yard line, and set up a 1 yard TD run from Ben Brooks.

Madison then recovered a short kick-off to get the ball back at the Milbank 39 yard line. Three plays later Cohen Hahn hit Shane Veenhof for a score that made it 14-0.  After that, the Bulldogs defense took over the scoring. Veenhof intercepted a pass from Braylen Bowsher, and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown. Five minutes later Ben Brooks intercepted a pass and returned it for a 48 yard score that put Madison up 28-0 at halftime.

Madison’s final TD came in the 3rd quarter with Veenhof catching an 11 yard touchdown from Hahn. After a missed extra point, the Bulldogs led 34-0. Milbank got their lone score in the 4th quarter on a Tate Schlueter (Sh-loot-er) 1 yard run.

Cohen Hahn finished the game 21 of 38 for 248 yards, with 2 TD’s and 2 interceptions. Veenhof caught both touchdowns as part of his 12 catches for 168 yards. Ben Brooks caught 7 passes for 70 yards and also ran for 44 yards. Brooks and Veenof also had 2 interceptions a piece on defense. Caleb Hadges added an interception for the Bulldogs. He also had a sack and 9 tackles.
