Madison Legion Drop A Pair On Saturday

Madison Legion dropped a pair of games on Saturday, falling to Tea 8-2 and Dakota Valley 5-3. Versus Tea, it was a fairly tight affair until Tea broke open the game with a five-run bottom of the sixth inning. Visiting Madison had pulled within a run in the top half of the frame, but starting pitcher Ashton Nills ran out of gas and did not record an out in the sixth. Offensively, Taylor Hojer collected in a pair of hits and Ben Lester picked up an RBI.

Game two on Saturday saw Madison fall victim to another five run inning. The contest versus Dakota Valley was scoreless before Madison plated two in the top of the fifth, only to see Dakota Valley erupt for five in the bottom half. Zach Whitlock and Carson Hunsley drove in runs for Madison, Tyler Tappe took the loss on the mound as he went five innings and allowed five runs on five hits, struck out six and walked six.

Now sitting at 8-6 on the summer, Madison Legion will be back in action tonight at home versus Dell Rapids. They will also travel tomorrow to Lake Norden before a lite break over the holiday weekend.
