A game that seemed to be in hand, slipped through the grips of the Madison Bulldogs on Friday night. Madison surrendered a 4th quarter lead for the 3rd time this season in a 32-28 loss to Lennox at Trojan Field.

Madison led 28-20 with three minutes remaining, when Josh Arlt scrambled for a 15 yard score to cut the Bulldog lead to 26-28. The following 2-point conversion was no good. Madison got the ball back after a penalty during an on-side kick attempt, but the Bulldogs failed to pick up a first down. Madison punted and gave the ball back to the Orioles with 1:19 remaining.

In two plays the Orioles hit the go ahead score, on a 48 yard TD pass to Caleb Metcalf, that put Lennox up 32-28. Madison go the ball back with no timeouts, and made it into Lennox territory, before Tyler Tappe was sacked to end the game.

Carter Bergheim finished wtih 8 catches for 101 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Chris Reece ran 35 times for 138 yards and a TD. Tappe finished the game 25 of 39 for 234 yards, three scores, and 2 interceptions.

Josh Arlt completed 14 passes for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns. Metcals caught 4 passes for 140 yards and 2 scores.

Madison falls to 4-4 on the season, while the Orioles improved to 4-4. Madison is on the road next week, at Sioux Falls Christian. The Orioles will return home to take Vermillion.
