The Madison boys basketball team returned to conference play on Friday with a convincing 77-62 win over the Tea Area Titans. Madison led virtually the entire game, taking a lead midway though the 1st quarter and holding it to the end.

Keaton Nighbert exploded for 14 points in the 1st quarter, helping Madison to a 19-11 lead after the 1st. The Bulldogs pushed that lead to double digits in the 2nd, before Tea Area made a run to cut the deficit to 3 points. That was how the rest of the game would go as well, with Madison building up a lead and Tea trimming in back down. In the end there was too much offense from the Bulldogs for Tea to handle. Four Bulldogs finished in double figures, and the team shot nearly 60 percent in the game.

Nighbert finished with  23 points. Tyler Tappe added 13 points and 9 rebounds, Cody Brown 15 points, and Connor Hively 10. Cale Lundin scored a game high 24 points for the Titans.

Madison is now 5-1 on the season, while Tea Area fell to 3-2. The Bulldogs will be back at home on Thursday to host Flandreau.

The Bulldog JV team won a 55-52 overtime battle with Tea on Friday. Gabe Olson had 11 points and a team high 8 rebounds for Madison. Trey Smith added 14 points, while Logan Albee and Nathan Ricke each had 9. Dillion Bickett hit a game winning three pointer with 3 seconds left in OT.

The  fresman boys lost 51-21 to the Titan. Joe Gors had 6 points in the loss for Madison.
