Madison Black Advances to Region 5A Championship

The Madison Black 14U baseball team has advanced to the Championship of the Region 5A VFW baseball tournament. After winning their opening game on Monday, Madison Black rallied for an 8-3 comeback win over the Sioux Falls Chargers on Tuesday. 

Sioux Falls got on the board first last night, with an RBI single from Maddux Munson in the first inning. The Chargers then added two more runs in the bottom of the 5th, to go up 3-0. Madison struck for 4 runs in the sixth inning, which included a solo home run from Brennon Bickett. They added 4 more runs in the seventh to secure the win. 

Bickett finished the game with one hit and two runs scored. Cooper Bergheim had 2 runs and 2 RBI. Boyd Pooler picked up the win after allowing 3 runs over 5 innings. Braylon Oftedal tossed the final 2 innings while striking out 4. 

Also Tuesday, Dell Rapids defeated Sioux Falls 16-1. Madison Black and Dell Rapids will play today for the Region 5A Championship. Madison beat Dells 6-0 on Monday, so Dell Rapids would need to win two games from Madison tonight to claim the Championship. The action begins at 5pm tonight in Madison.
