Madison and Chester advance to State Softball Semi’s

The Madison High School Softball team advanced to the Class A Semifinals on Thursday, with a 7-2 win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs. Mara Kingbile and Cambree Hunsley got early runs on the board for the Bulldogs, with RBI singles in the 1st and 2nd innings respectively. Ella Malone added a run in the 4th with a solo home run over the center field wall. 

Madison then put the game out of reach with a three run 5th inning. A Karly Lurz double scored the first run of the inning, followed by a sacrifice groundout by Abubri Tobkin. Malone then singled in her second run of the game to make it 6-0. 

Amanda Vacanti shutdown the Mustangs before giving up a two run homer to Emry Jones in the 7th. Vacanti struck out 9 batters over her seven innings while picking up the win. She walked in all four of her trips to the plate as a hitter. 

Madison moves on to play undefeated West Central in the semifinals on Friday. The Trojans beat Elk Point-Jefferson 15-0 in their opening round game. 

Also Thursday, Dell Rapids defeated Dakota Valley 11-0, and Tea Area topped Beresford 16-0.

The Bulldogs game today against West Central is scheduled for 3pm, on Field C at The Players Softball Complex in Aberdeen. 

The Chester Area Flyers softball team advanced to the semifinals of the Class B Tournament on Thursday, with a 10-0 win Deuel. Chester will take on Alcester-Hudson today at 5:30. The Cubs are the only team that Chester Area lost to this season.
