Madison 16U teams take losses, while the 14U teams won on Monday

Dell Rapids scored in each of the first 5 innings, and defeated the Madison Black 16U baseball team 7-1 on Monday. Conner Hanson drove in two runs for Dells in the 1st, and Luke Symens and Gauge Bunkers drew RBI walks in the 2nd. Hanson allowed just one unearned run on the mound, and struck out 9 in the win. 

Brennan Bickett and Carter Ahrendt each had two hits for Madison. Cohen Hahn took the loss, throwing three innings and giving up five runs on four hits and striking out 6. 

The Madison Maroon 16U team also lost on Monday, falling to Elkton 10-8. Madison found themselves facing a six run deficit, after Elkton took the lead with 9 runs in the 5th. Madison came back for 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th, but were shutout the rest of the way. 

Cale Johnson had 2 hits and 3 RBI for Madison. Gavin Scheider had a double and drove in 3 as well. Casyn Crabtree took the loss. He allowed 9 total runs, 3 of them earned, walked 4 and struck out 5. 

Madison Maroon is now 7-5, and will travel to Volga on Thursday. Madison Black’s record is 7-3. They will travel to Groton on Sunday. 


In 14U baseball from Monday, Madison Gold scored six early runs and beat Volga 8-5. Madison scored 3 runs in each of the first two innings to take the lead. Kaysen Gust had 2 hits, 2 runs and an RBI for the Gold team. Luke Johnson added 3 hits and a pair of runs. Tuker King and Gavin Fink combined to strike out 9 Volga Batters. 

Madison White also picked up a win Monday, defeating Sioux Falls Christian White 9-4. Madison rallied from a 3-0 hole, by scoring runs in four consecutive innings. Oakley Meens led the offense with 3 hits and 2 runs scored. Payton Wold scored a pair of runs as well. Brody Nielsen picked up the win by going 5 innings on the mound. He gave up 4 runs, on 5 hits, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. 

Madison White improved to 7-7. They will host Hills-Beaver Creek today. Madison Gold is now 8-4, and will host Garretson today.
