Lady Bulldogs Return to the Court: Game Preview – Madison vs Arlington

The Madison Lady Bulldogs (0-5 overall, 0-2 Region 3A) hit the court for the first time in the new 2024 year when they host the Arlington Lady Cardinals at the Madison High School Gym.

The Lady Cardinals (5-1 overall, 3-0 Region 2B) come into this game with a much improved program during the tenure of head coach Tara King. Who after having a 1-24 season in her first year, has gone 79-61 in the seven seasons since, including this season so far.

Ever since Arlington moved to Region 2B, King and the Lady Cardinals have yet to lose to an opponent from Region 2B. Sitting at a perfect 9-0 in Region play. Last year’s team reached 17 wins, which was the first time since the 2010-2011 season.

They come into the game averaging 57.3 points per game and only allowing 40.5 per contest. It’ll be the first true road game of the season for the Lady Cardinals. Who have played five home games and one neutral site game – which is their only loss. This team boasts only one senior on its 11 player roster, so they’re young.

Madison comes into the game hoping to have found a fix over the break for their woes so far this season. The Lady Bulldogs are still searching for win number one after early season struggles. This group hasn’t seen game action in two and a half weeks. With their last game being on Dec. 16, 2023 where even their second highest point total of the season (35) wasn’t enough to get a win.

They’re led in scoring by Audrey Nelson with 12.8 points per game. Madison averages just 29.2 points per contest. The offense has struggled to put the ball in the basket this year and had troubles taking care of the ball as well.

Tipoff against Arlington is set for 7:30pm with pregame beginning at 7:20pm on AM 1390 Dakotas Best.
