Flandreau Moves to Semifinals in State Tournament After Beating Two-Time Defending Champion Alexandria

Alexandria’s three-peat bid was denied by Flandreau after the Cardinals eliminated the Angels 5-3 in quarterfinals action last night. Jacob Patterson had two hits, drove in a run and scored twice in the win. Drew Demers, pick-up player from the Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks, also had two hits and scored once. Bret Severtson picked up the win on the mound. He was one of four Flandreau pitchers, going four and one-third innings, allowing only four hits and one earned run, and striking out six. Alexandria left 16 runners on base.

Flandreau plays Dimock/Emery in the semifinals tomorrow at 5:30 p.m, and tonight, the Dell Rapids Mudcats play Larchwood in the quarterfinals, also at 5:30 p.m. Both games can be heard on Dakota’s Best AM1390.
