First Volleyball poll of the season has defending champs on top
The first high school volleyball poll of the season we released on Monday. The SD Media Poll shows a tight Class A, with perennial power Sioux Falls Christian ranked 1st, and Dell Rapids right behind them with two first place votes.Â
Sioux Falls Christian won their 13th state championship, and seventh in a row, last season. Dell Rapids, led by sophomore outside hitter Madelynn Henry, placed 3rd at state last year. Rapid City Christian, Miller, and Baltic round out the top 5.Â
In Class B, the defending champions from Chester Area start the season with the #1 ranking. The usual Class B powers for Warner and Northwestern are ranked 2nd and 3rd, followed by Burke and Hitchcock-Tulare.Â
The Madison Bulldogs will start their season this Thursday. The Bulldogs will travel to Flandreau Thursday to take on the Fliers. Madison’s first home match is Tuesday, September 3rd, against Canton.
