DSU Volleyball Sweeps Weekend; Madalyn Groft Earns Conference Honor

Dakota State Volleyball held home court this weekend coming away with wins over Dordt (Iowa) & Mount Marty.

It was Amy Veenhof’s first win over Dordt as head coach at DSU. Madalyn Groft came away with yet another triple-double, posting 11 kills/18 set assists/10 digs against Dordt.

The Trojans had a .215% hitting percentage in the match compared to DU’s .110% hitting percentage. DSU garnished more hits 52-44 and came away with 10 blocks compared to just six for the Defenders.

The victory over Mount Marty was the 11th straight for Dakota State. A season-high .412% hitting percentage was the equalizer in the win over Lancers.

Sydney Schell posted a double-double in the match with 14 kills and 14 digs. She also came away with a season-high .500% hitting percentage for the Trojans. Groft joined in on the fun with 19 set assists, six kills, five digs and three blocks.

After this weekend’s games, Groft was tabbed as the North Star Athletic Association Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. She finished the week with 64 set assists, 36 digs and 27 kills.

DSU now holds a 3-2 record and are set to host Dakota Wesleyan, who is ranked No. 13 in the NAIA Volleyball Coaches Top 25 National Poll. The teams will play tonight at 7pm in the DSU Fieldhouse. It is “White-Out Night” for tonight’s game so wear your white and come support the Trojans!
