The Dakota State Softball team traveled to Kansas to take part in the 3 day Friends Softball tournament.  In the first game of the tournament Friday, Melissa Krapf drove in three runs  in propelling Dakota State softball  to an 8-0 shutout victory over York (Neb.) to kick off the Friends (Kan.) Tournament.  The tournament was held at Two Rivers Youth Complex.

Dakota State jumped to a 3-0 lead in the second game of the tournament Friday afternoon.  Host-team Friends poured in 17 unanswered runs to earn a 17-3 victory over the Trojans.

In the first game of the day Saturday  Dakota State. put together six runs in the first two innings against  Graceland (Iowa) . The Trojans held off the Yellowjackets late comeback for a 6-4 victory. 

In the second game of the day Briar Cliff (Iowa) started the game with nine runs in the first three innings, rolling to a 14-5 victory over Dakota State. 

On Sunday,  the final day of the tournament, Concordia (Neb.) racked up nine runs after the first inning and rolled past Dakota State 12-3 in five innings.

In the final game of the Friends softball tournament Sunday afternoon, Dakota State, trailing 3-0, scored six unanswered runs and held off Hastings, Nebraska finishing the tournament with a 6-4 win.  The Trojans finished the tournament with a 3-3 record and improved to 4-6 overall.  

The Trojans softball team remains in Kansas as they continue their action later this week. They will have a double header with McPherson College tomorrow and Tabor College on Wednesday before taking part in the McPherson tournament this weekend.
