DSU Softball splits Saturday games at Viterbo

Dakota State University Softball continued their winning ways over the weekend, taking 3 of 4 games against Viterbo in La Crosse, Wisconsin. After taking two games on Friday, the Trojans opened Saturday’s double-header with a 12-7 victory. DSU belted out 16 hits in the game, including a Sarah Torres solo home run. Torres reached base 4 times, and scored 4 runs in the game. Mackenzie Sims and Michelle Evdos each drove in 3 runs. 

The V-Hawks offense came to life in Game 2, scoring five runs in the first inning to take the early lead. Dakota State answered back with 6 runs in the 2nd inning, and 5 runs in the 3rd, to take a 12-8 lead. Viterbo then put up 6 runs in the 6th inning, powering their way to a 15-14 win.

The Trojans averaged nearly 12 runs per game in the weekend series, and improved their NSAA record to 11-5. DSU softball is 16-17 overall on the season, and will travel to Sioux City today for a double-header with Morningside.
